010 Surrender have created an album of beauty and surprises. Working together to produce a smorgasbord of majestic and glacial soundscapes, in which the analogue/digital binary is blurred making for a liminal organic electroacoustic mix of real instruments and computer sounds - born in equal out of friendly tension, playful "what if" daydreaming, pragmatic compromise, and sympathetic collaboration. One half of the duo wanted to keep things minimal, while the other half is a maximalist kitchen sink thrower inner. Harking back to the golden age of electronica/IDM that was the 1990's, 010 Surrender's self-titled debut is a soundtrack to contemplation and creative activity, a feast for the ears and balm for the mind.
